If you are not in the U.S. and want to bring a relative here:
If you want to file a Petition for Alien Relative packet for your spouse, mother, father, or child. We will need the following items from you:
1. 1 passport style photo of Beneficiary (the foreign relative)
2. 1 passport style photo of Petitioner (the U.S. citizen or permanent resident)
3. $420 for filing fees
4. $1,500 for legal fees
5. Copy of Beneficiary’s I-94 (little white arrival document placed in passport upon entry into U.S. if beneficiary is n the U.S.).
6. Copy of Beneficiary’s passport (only pages containing information or stamps, blank pages are not necessary)
7. Copy of Beneficiary’s birth certificate
8. Copy of Petitioner’s birth certificate, passport, naturalization certificate, or green card.
9. Copy of documents to establish relationship (marriage license, divorce decrees, birth certificates, etc.)
10. If filing for your spouse, we need copies of documents that indicate that you are joining your lives together
(joint bank statements, joint bills, joint insurance, joint ownership, photos, correspondence, etc.)
In 6 to 9 months, Immigration will approve the petition and forward the file to the U.S. Dept. of State (DOS) to start consular processing. Another $1,318 will be required at this time, $318 for DOS and $1,000 for legal fees. We will also need a few other documents which we will coordinate at the time. DOS will schedule a consular interview usually within 3 months as long as your priority date is current.
